Does Your Leesburg, Florida Home Have A Leaky Roof?

The Florida summer always brings rain, and often brings it every day. This makes leaks a special concern for residents of Leesburg. If you find a leak, call 1-800-Roofcare right away.  We can assist you with repairing your roof and preventing further damage.

Water from leaks can enter your home repeatedly, hastening its spread. Within a matter of days, your ceiling can be soaked through with water, followed quickly by your walls and carpets. The exterior signs of this damage, such as discolored pain and ceiling cracks, are unsightly and can be expensive to fix. However, the impacts which exist inside of your walls can be even worse. When mold encounters sitting water inside of a home and the Florida heat, it multiplies exponentially. If left untreated for long enough, roof leaks can lead to huge mold colonies which can induce severe respiratory illness and feed equally large roach populations.

What roofing company can perform the repairs I need?

1-800-Roofcare, one of the biggest names in the American roofing industry, can. We want to meet all of your roofing needs, so we offer the full range of roof-related services, from roof cleaning to new roof installation.

What roof repair and maintenance services will be necessary to fix my roof?

That isn’t possible to answer without first inspecting your roof. However, it is likely that whatever solution your problem requires will fall into one of two categories.

  • Minor Roof Repair. Sometimes, even a large leak can be caused by a comparatively small problem. A single loose or missing tile can allow a substantial amount of water to enter your home, and even a tiny crack can cause some leaking. When the rest of the roof is still in good condition, your leak might be pluggable with only minor repairs to the damaged area and its immediate vicinity.
  • Roof Replacement and Re-Covering. All Roofs have an expiration date. The constant beating from the elements eventually wears down roofing materials and deteriorates them to the point where they no longer can do their job. When your roof gets to this point, your leak may no longer be pluggable without replacing the entire roof. There are two major roof replacement methods, full replacement and re-covering. In most cases, all of your roofing materials will have to be removed and then new ones installed in their place. In some limited circumstances, your may be able to re-cover your roof without first removing the existing materials. This saves you time and labor costs. Unfortunately, re-covering is limited to certain materials, primarily various types of shingle, and can only legally be done a limited number of times, usually once.

How long will my roofing materials last in Leesburg?

That depends on a number of factors such as the amount of shade in your yard, the manufacturer of your roofing materials, and what anti-pest treatments they had. However, no single factor is as important as the type of material you chose. Please remember that the Florida climate is one of the harshest on roofs found anywhere in the United States. The extreme heat, high humidity, frequent rains, high winds, regular thunderstorms, and abundance of pests mean that roofs typically last several years less here than is common in more temperate regions. Despite these uncertainties, here are the typical life expectancies for some common roofing materials:

  • Asphalt Shingles. 20 to 40 years
  • Metal. 20 to 50 years
  • Wood Shingles. 30 to 50 years
  • Architectural Shingles. 40 to 50 years
  • Concrete and Clay Tiles. 50 to 100 years
  • Stone Tiles. Over 100 years
