1-800-Roofcare - Keeping L.A. Roofs in Top Condition!

Didn’t think the roof care of your home or office building could deserve a boastful headline? Think again. You may think roofs are not exciting, and you probably would be correct. But they are kind of like walls – not to be taken for granted because you sure would be exposed if they weren’t there!

Seriously, there are a number of great reasons that paying attention to your roof maintenance and upkeep should be a headline on your home care list:

  • Cost: With costs for cooling at a premium, keeping your roof in great condition and repairing minor damage before it becomes big keeps your costs down. Prevention saves you money in the end.
  • Save Time: Roof emergencies need to be addressed right away and many people don’t think about the care and preservation of their roof until disaster strikes. Having a relationship with a reliable roofing company you trust, at a time of urgency, will save you the time you don’t have then.
  • Peace of Mind: Wear and tear on your roof is inevitable. As with all structures in your home, a schedule of inspection and maintenance not only prevents some of the emergencies of leaks, but will give you the peace of mind that it’s one less thing to worry about.

Roof maintenance goes beyond appearance

  • The Chimney, drain pipes and Items that Go Through the Roof: Make certain you inspect the flashings around your drain pipelines and locations where they flex into the roof. Drains, pipes all could get cracks in them and accountable for water cracks you might not know about until it's as well late.
  • The Gutters: While serving a vital function of draining water off of your residence or building; commonly they are made from light-weight aluminum. Gutters can fracture and flex and when ruined, the poor drainage backs up water leading to water damages.
  • The Shingles: Shingles overlap and lay slanted on the roof. Their purpose is to make a barrier for rainfall, sleet, snow and particles from trees and items you don’t want on your roof. Here in Los Angeles County, intense sunshine is also a factor that wears on shingles. When shingles degenerate or get damaged the roof ends up more subject to decay.
  • The Soffit: No one wants critters and bugs to get into the house, but keeping them from destroying your roof requires maintenance. The soffit was created as a mesh barrier made of a mesh under the roof overhang. Rodents can chew, insects can nest and worse yet would be if any of these creatures got access to the house, causing a rat or bug issue.
  • The Fascia: The fascia lies under the roof line and all along your building or residence. It is a board that falls prey to weather damage and regular inspection is warranted to make sure it is holding its integrity.

To “roof,” or not to “roof”

Shakespeare jokes aside, let’s look at the many considerations you may have when it comes to getting a new roof. There are a variety of roofing material and different types of roofs. Not only that but you may have specific concerns that are important to you. Here are a few of the questions our customers evaluate for their home or building when considering a new roof:

  • Is your roof flat or sloped? As you realize, a sloped roof allows water to drain down, making a difference in how the roof is made and what materials you will need. Flat roofs must have a layer of watertight seal to prevent leaks due to water pooling from rain.
  • Go Green or Synthetic? Slate, thatch and wood are natural materials and they make the perfect choice in some instances. Polycarbonate sheeting and other synthetics may be less costly in some cases. But remember, any roofing material you choose with have drawbacks and benefits.
  • Does it look as good as it performs? The type of roofing materials that look great on one building or house may not look good on another. You will have to take into account not only the practicality and durability of the material you choose, but whether it fits with the overall look of your home and neighborhood.
  • Is the Cost Justified? Not all homes hold their value. While a strong, reliable roof is important for safety and comfort, it is also a costly real estate investment. When considering this, take all factors into account.

Without a doubt, saving money on roof repairs is to trust a professional for proper periodic inspection, maintenance and upkeep all year round. Preventative work does make a difference and in the long run you will be one happy property owner!
